I hope you had a lovely long weekend! Thank you all so much for making it out to Open House last week. I was wonderful watching your children share their learning this year with you. They have all come so far in their studies and you should be extremely proud. Thank you for all you did to encourage and support your child’s learning this year!
It is hard to believe, but we are wrapping up our year’s learning this week! This week we will be finishing our final two math units on geometry and graphing and taking our last math assessments. In addition, we will finalize our opinion writing unit and take our opinion writing assessment Thursday afternoon. Friday, I will be out of the classroom doing our last reading assessment with students. Kate Roberts will be our substitute. If you plan to be gone on Friday, please let me know so I can do your child’s reading assessment early. There is no homework this week as we begin transitioning into the last week of school.
There will be many activities on the last week of school. On Tuesday, June 5th we will have the talent show at 9a.m. Following lunch, at 12:45 p.m. we will be walking to the creek for the afternoon. We will be back at school by 2:45 p.m.. Parents are more than welcome to attend the field trip. Students will need a bathing suit, a towel, shoes for creek, and if desired, a boogie board to share. 1st graders will also be at the creek, so it should be a lovely time! On Wednesday, June 6th, we will have our ‘great classroom clean out.’ Students will need to bring a paper bag to bring any supplies home. Finally, on Thursday, June 7th, we will have our final slide show and closing circle at 12:00 p.m.. Our tables and chairs will be stacked for the summer, so students are welcome to bring one blanket and one pillow to school. Parents are more than welcome to attend the slide show. We will be dancing out of 2nd grade in a conga line to celebrate our year of hard work at 12:35, and parents are more than welcome to come and build a tunnel outside the classroom for us to dance out into our summer. Please let me know if you have any questions about our last week’s activities.
Finally, I’m collecting photos for the end of the year slide show. If you have any photos from the movie nights, field trips, spring concerts, plays etc, you are able to share with me, they would be greatly appreciated. You can email me the photos at [email protected].
Have a wonderful week! –Libby
