I hope you had a relaxing rainy weekend with your families. It is hard to believe winter break is nearly here! There will be no school on Friday, December 18th. Thursday, December 17th we have our Holiday Sing at 11:00 a.m. We will also have our “movie primer” for our narrated narrative stories from 1:45-2:45 on Thursday. Families are more than welcome to attend our narrative story movie premier. Students are allowed 2 items (a blanket, pillow or stuffed animal) in a separate bag on Thursday for our movie premier.
There is not a formal homework pack this week. Clear folders will go home on January 4th. Students are bringing home song lyrics and are asked to practice the play songs nightly. I’m hoping to have our highlighted play scripts with our play lines sent home before the break. If possible, please have your child practice his/her lines throughout the break. Play rehearsal will begin the week of January 11th. It is extremely helpful to have your child memorize his/her lines before January 11th. Students will need to memorize their lines by January 18th.
The second grade students have really enjoyed our social studies unit and touring the Northeast. We will begin touring the Southeast on Tuesday. I’ve uploaded our online resources on the tab U.S. regions on the blog. If your students are interested in learning more, I encourage them to explore the tools on the U.S. Regions tab.
I hope you all have a relaxing break with your families. I will be headed to Minnesota to spend the holidays with my family and Caleb’s family. Thank you all for a wonderful first half of 2nd grade. I’ve cherished working with your children.
Best Wishes,
Libby
