I hope enjoyed the rainy and sunny weekend. We are energetically preparing for the science fair on Wednesday.
Our supply of table wipes and hand sanitizer is running out. The 2nd grade classroom is seeking environmentally friendly table wipes and hand sanitizer to maintain our classroom health. With the newly green certification of our school, we are asking that any donations be free of alcohol. Some great brands are Seventh Generation and Eco. Thank you so much for your support of our classroom health!
As a note, I will be out of the classroom on Friday doing reading assessments in anticipation of our winter report cards. Mr. Hoffman will be subbing in the classroom.
It was wonderful to see so many students at Wednesday’s math homework club. I’ll be hosting the homework club this week again from 12:35 to 1:00. If you are interested in attending, please sign up on sign up genius-the link is below.
Reading: We will be finishing The Patchwork Path. We will review our new reading strategies of inferring character feelings and using prior knowledge to connect with the text. Students will begin designing their own secret quilt code for the Underground Railroad on Thursday and Friday.
Writing: We will be busy publishing our science experiments for the science fair board. We will be working on a writing assessment on Thursday afternoon.
Math: We will be learning vertical addition and regrouping-a precursor to the traditional algorithm method of adding.
